Your AI results suck (but here's why...)

With so much uncertainty, I wanted to find a way to add value to you, non-profit leaders, with no intent to sell you anything here. I figured I'd create these Weekly Emails I call Monday Motivational Minute because Mondays are historically the roughest days, and a minute . . . well because you're very busy people. In these, I'll add creative, quick, actionable takeaways for you to try (All in a minute read). No pressure, no need to respond, read at your leisure or unsubscribe if it doesn't add value.

I did realize I owe you a huge apology. I think I get so deep into AI that I forgot to make sure everyone knows the fundamentals. That's totally my fault, I'm sorry!

With that in mind….

You've been using AI wrong, and many of you feel it's overhyped because it's not giving you exactly what you want. Ever notice how some people get incredible AI results while yours feel generic and useless? They're not Harry Potter using magic.

Well ...🤫... it’s that your instructions are.... pretty bad 🤷🏾‍♂️. It's like telling your spouse to "get something from the room next to the bed" when you mean "grab the charger by the door in the bedroom." Vague requests get vague results.

The results, If I can be brutally honest (with love 💓): Your results suck because you're treating AI like a mind reader instead of giving clear, detailed instructions.

Actionable Task: Transform your next AI request using this foolproof format:

• Step 1: Give it a ROLE/TITLE (who should it be?)

• Step 2: Give it your REQUEST (what do you want?)

• Step 3: Add your STIPULATION (your specific requirements)

Example: "I want you to be the best grant researcher (ROLE) and find 5 grants my organization qualifies for (REQUEST). Make it specific for Colorado organizations providing medical services for uninsured people (STIPULATION)."

Regis Pro tip: For some real magic, sprinkle this to EVERY prompt: "Before you start, ask me any questions you need to accomplish this goal to the best of your ability."

Remember: Clear communication is the universal solution for human friction and now AI, too. When everyone understands everyone, what we thought were impossible problems become simple solutions waiting to be implemented.
